First Edition EIS announces next portfolio of companies

Edition Capital are pleased to confirm the first three companies that will receive investment through the next tranche of First Edition EIS prior to the end of the tax year.

Incipio launch new venue, Feast Bar & Kitchen

To round-off a fantastic 2017, First Edition EIS investee business, Incipio are launching a 300 capacity venue in the former BBC White City building. The venue, Feast Bar & Kitchen, will feature rotating street food vendors starting with Taco-specialists Del 74 and Morty & Bob’s Cheese Toasties.

Incipio launch hotly anticipated new venue, The Prince

Following the huge success of Pergola on the Roof and Pergola Paddington Central, Incipio (a First Edition EIS portfolio business) have launched a new venue, The Prince, at West Brompton Crossing.

Already fully booked for the majority of the rest of 2017, it’s set to be a great success.

Edition launch an Artist Services division

To compliment the existing Advisory services, Edition have successfully launched a new Artist Services division. As well as exposure to the existing services of Edition’s Advisory business, Artist Services will meet all the day-to-day business management needs of artists and other entertainment professionals. For music artists, this will include budgeting and the financial management of tours as well as royalty accounting and taxation services. 

Adam Spence said, “Because of the existing experience in the team and our already close relationship with the entertainment industries, it felt like a natural development of our advisory business to include artist services. We believe in adding real value to our clients and our flexibility allows us to support artists and professionals in all areas, regardless of their career and business stage”.

UK Live Music sector now worth £1bn.

The Measuring Music 2017 report has now been released and reports that the UK live music industry is now worth £1bn for the first time, growing by 14% in 2016.

The report also confirms the importance of the live music sector as an employer with almost 30,000 people employed in the sector in 2016 compared to just over 9,000 in recorded music.

Wish You Were Here 2017 report released

UK Music, the organisation that represents the live music sector in the UK has launched its annual report on the effect of live music on the UK economy.

The report is positive reading for the industry as music tourism generated £4bn in direct and indirect spending in 2016 and we have seen the number of festival attendees increase by 6% on the previous year to just under 4 million people.

The number of overseas music tourists coming to the UK has also increased by 7% on the previous year to 823,000, further demonstrating the UK’s attractiveness as a live music destination.

Little Yellow Door to host the ‘Little Yellow Weekender’

The team behind the Little Yellow Door, one of the First Edition EIS investee companies are going to be hosting their inaugural ‘Little Yellow Weekender’ on Osea Island this weekend.

The event will see 200 attendees descend on the island for a weekend of activities and parties including giant water slides, ‘pimms-pong’ and their signature dinner parties.

The event has had some fantastic coverage in the Evening Standard and if there are a small number of tickets available here if you would like to join them!

Intelligent Partnership release their Media and Entertainment sector report

Intelligent Partnership have released their Media and Entertainment report that identifies some of the positive benefits of investing in the sector through the enterprise investment scheme (EIS). Highlights include:

  • Media and entertainment remains one of the most popular sectors to receive investment through the EIS scheme with 38% of the market.
  • The sector provides investors with access to high growth companies
  • The UK continues to be a world leader in the sector with global consumption of UK content continuing to grow

The report also uses the sale of Impresario Festivals’ festival assets, a process managed by Edition, as a great example of the returns that investors can achieve in entertainment.

Impresario receives London Stock Exchange recognition

We are delighted to announce that Impresario Festivals plc has been recognised in the London Stock Exchange’s report, 1000 Companies to Inspire Britain. The report includes many nationwide names such as Everyman Cinema, Brewdog and Just Eat as well recognising the importance of creative industries in the wider British economy.

The Edition team led on the fundraising for Impresario Festivals plc and were actively involved in the commercial and operational management of Impresario over its initial 4 years of trading, including managing all investments and acquisitions for the group before a successful sale to the media and entertainment group, Global.
